The Clermont Senior Services Annual Meeting was held April 11 at The Lodge of Clermont. In addition to recapping a fantastic 2017, the very first, Patricia A. Scherer Caregiver Award was given.
The Caregiver receiving the award was Napoleon McCallum, Mr. McCallum is the caregiver for his wife, Virginia, who attends the Adult Day Center. In the letter written in support of Mr. McCallum, his nominator wrote the following:
“Napolean’s dedication to his wife is absolutely remarkable. Not only does he care for her physically and emotionally, he does a great job of maintaining his own physical and emotional health through exercise, gardening and caring for animals as well as attending church. Napoleon has instilled a great deal of faith, hope and positive energy not only for the group members but for me as well. I am honored to have had the chance to get to know Napolean and see his passion for his wife, faith in God and family.”
Mr. McCallum was accompanied to the award presentation by his daughter, Ova, who was clearly very proud of her father and the care he provides for her mother.
The Patricia A. Scherer Caregiver Award is in honor of its namesake, the creator of the very first caregiver support group at Clermont Senior Services. For more information about the support group, please visit the webpage here.
