Milford Police Chief, Jamey Mills, and Bob Ehrhardt, have come to be great friends. Chief Mills serves as a Visiting Officer, as a part of the Visiting Officer Volunteer Program at Clermont Senior Services. Visiting Officers are assigned older adults in their jurisdiction by the Volunteer Coordinator at CSS; their role is simple – visit and be a friendly face. These visits often bring a sense of comfort and security to the older adult and many times, friendships form.
After learning about Mr. Ehrhardt’s upcoming 95th birthday, and of his service to our Country, Chief Mills organized a small parade with other members of the Police and Fire Departments. The City of Milford also proclaimed July 22nd, Robert Ehrhardt Day, at their August 17th City Council meeting. Mr. Ehrhardt’s family was in attendance, as well as his new friend, Chief Mills.
When Mr. Ehrhardt had a moment to address the audience, he spoke of his 72 year marriage with his wife, his beloved greyhound dog, his family, and the assistance he has received from the Home Safety Repair Program at Clermont Senior Services.
The evening was a wonderful reminder of the great impact we can have when we join together in community for our older adults.
