2014 Adopt-a-Senior

Over 500 senior’s had Christmas gifts last year because of the generosity of the community and the hard work of the volunteers and staff at Clermont Senior Services.

It may be October but preparations for Adopt-a-Senior 2014 are already beginning. The Adopt-a-Senior program aims to match seniors with generous members of the community who agree to purchase items from a wish list to be delivered just in time for Christmas. The senior turns in their wish list consisting of very basic items they may not otherwise receive. The program also accepts gift cards and monetary donations for items of higher value that some seniors may need such as a microwave or vacuum cleaner.

When gifts start arriving at the Clermont Senior Services office, the process of matching gifts to recipients begins. The real fun begins when volunteers and staff set out to deliver the gifts in December.

Gifts from this program may be the only gift that particular person will receive for Christmas and the joy on their faces is contagious. Even though most items are basic necessities, it means the world to the recipient to know that someone was thinking of them during the holiday season.
