20 Years of Volunteering

George and Ruth Ann Rooks (pictured with Commissioner Bob Proud) have been volunteering for the majority of their 55 years of marriage. George and Ruth Ann give back to the community in many ways every day. George sums it up,

“You cannot do enough for people in need, this is what the Lord intended us to do and this is what life is all about.”

The Rooks’ volunteer repertoire includes George serving on the Clermont Senior Services Board of Trustees for 20 years, In addition, George and Ruth Ann are volunteer shoppers, and have delivered meals-on wheels and assisted with Clermont Senior Services events including the golf outing and the annual Touching Hearts Gala and Auction. Both have donated to special events for Clermont Senior Services. Ruth Ann makes her famous jam cake and George hand-crafts wood items for the Touching Hearts Gala and Auction. George and Ruth Ann have participated in the Adopt-A-Senior Program for 15 years. They have also presented folklore programs at the Lois Brown Dale Welcome Center and the Lifelong Learning Centers when requested.

In addition to Clermont Senior Services, George and Ruth Ann Rooks also give of their time to many other organizations  throughout Clermont County and greater Cincinnati. George Rooks writes a weekly column as the “Old Fisherman” for the Clermont County Journal and the Brown County Democrat. Ruth Ann has been a member of the Grange for 59 years and George for 55 years. George has belonged to the Bethel Lions Club for 44 years and Ruth Ann for 16 years. They are the leaders of the Over 50s Couples Group at their church and have attended church missions to revive communities and renovate homes. George and Ruth Ann have donated hand crafted wood items for CASA’s auction for 7 years. They volunteer at the Owensville and Old Bethel M.E. Historical Society and at Grant’s Farm annual open house. George and Ruth Ann volunteer monthly in Price Hill serving dinner and bringing clothes for the needy.

The generosity of George and Ruth Ann Rooks is a prime example of how people can live their lives to better the community and themselves. Clermont Senior Services wants to thank George and Ruth Ann for their dedication and service to the lives of seniors in Clermont County and to the betterment of the community.
